Our food took forever, but the Ukrainian waitress was so lovely that we didn't mind as much. She's a real star, and her Spanish, English, and Russian were all very good.

The apartment we rented through airbnb, owned by Luis-Ramón, turned out to be just right for the three of us. It wasn't huge, but the balcony had beautiful views, and the surroundings were quiet. The pool area had a cozy feel, and Illa Mateau is practically on the doorstep for snorkeling. LR was a good host and answered all our questions quickly. We had a great time.

These are my favorite apartments in L'Escala, with lovely views over the bay. There's a very nice beach right in front, Mateua Dive, the best diving center in Costa Brava, is next door, and supermarkets aren't too far away.

For traditional Spanish food around montgo/l’escala, this is the best restaurant. Ask for the melocoton special.
