Medes II

We’ve been here twice with our diving club and will definitely return. It’s a very nice three star hotel, with good food and an extremely nice management team and staff. Highly recommended.

The comfortable room and family run feel were nice, but groups made the stay less peaceful. In June, more than forty English teenagers and their teachers arrived, then a group of French scuba divers. Breakfast involved a lot of queuing and wasn’t very calm, and teenagers talking on the balconies until midnight didn’t help. Ear plugs were essential, and still weren’t enough. That’s why I’ve rated it three stars.

The hotel was very clean, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Our suite was spacious, modern and clean, with air conditioning and soundproofing. The little pool area felt a bit uninviting, though, and there’s only a small bar with one pool table. The location is good, but street parking can be tricky. The hotel has a decent car park, charged per night. We chose half board because of the reviews and wished we’d booked B&B instead. Breakfast was the expected coffee, bread and cereal. Dinner had three courses and some nice starters, but the mains were poor, with small portions and no vegetables, just chips. There was an option to pay extra for the three courses, but it didn’t look much better. The desserts were stingy too, just one small piece of fruit. A school group staying at the same time had a buffet each night, with better, healthier choices than bread and chips. The beds and pillows were hard. The hotel put memory foam toppers on the mattresses, but they’re hot and unsupportive, and won’t suit everyone. They didn’t feel like hotel standard. Shower pressure varied, so it was either boiling hot with a trickle or freezing cold when the pressure picked up. The Wi-Fi was really poor. Movistar had a strong signal and very fast data, but the other mobile networks were useless. There are often large groups at this hotel. We were lucky that the group of about 40 schoolchildren were well behaved and courteous, though that may not always be the case.

We had a really great time and hope to come back sometime. It’s a family run hotel with exceptionally friendly, helpful staff. Everything was super clean, and the location, sun terrace and pool were great. Breakfast had plenty of choice and was all very good. Thanks for a memorable stay.
