The kitchen worked well, and breakfast was provided. Showers had reliably warm water and good pressure, though there was nowhere to put toiletries. There were hangers, at least. The room had a large pull-out drawer for a suitcase or other bulky items, but no shelves or hangers for clothes and smaller belongings. I got the impression, just from what I saw, that rooms were cleaned only after checkout. In such small spaces, things get messy and unhygienic pretty quickly. You can sometimes hear the hallway, but the noise insulation was a 4/5 for me and nothing too serious. The location is convenient and the staff are friendly. It's a good hostel, and a few small changes could make it more comfortable.

The location was the one good thing for us. The photos made the hostel look much more spacious than it was, and although it was advertised with a private bathroom, there was only a shower in the room. The toilet was shared by the whole floor and wasn't clean. They kept spraying air freshener, which made it seem like a nice smell mattered more than cleaning. There was no soap in the toilet or in the dispenser in our room. A dead cockroach was on our shower door and looked like it had been there a while. We rented four lockers, but mine was very difficult to lock each time. It was noisy at night too, so sleeping was hard. If you're not used to hostels, I wouldn't recommend this one.

We were traveling around Spain for three weeks, and nothing like this had happened to us before. This incident, overnight from August 25 to 26, made our stay miserable. I hope someone above the receptionist on duty sees this and makes sure it doesn't happen again. I won't return to this place in Barcelona. We had booked two nights for four people, two boys and two girls. Check-in and the first night went smoothly. A kind receptionist showed us around, handed over our room cards, and answered my question about keeping the same beds both nights. He said yes, which meant we could leave our backpacks in the same locker while exploring Barcelona. We were happy with that arrangement. At 3 a.m. on the second night, a receptionist woke us by yelling at one of the girls that she couldn't stay in her reserved bed and had to get out or he'd call the police. He then brought in another group of four and pointed them to one of our beds, threatening the same thing if we didn't vacate it. The hostel had apparently assigned that bed to two groups. I showed him our two-night reservation, but we were confused about what to do. One of the boys gave up the bed and moved into another person's bed in our group, thinking that would settle it. The receptionist started shouting again. He ignored everything we said, kept threatening police and arrest, and insulted me and my home country with language I would never expect from staff in an adult conversation. The other group was just as confused, and everyone besides the receptionist was trying to find a solution. He finally shouted, “I don't f&cking care anymore,” and stormed off to the kitchen, leaving my friend and me at reception. A booking mistake can happen. They could have handled it calmly, told us before 3 a.m., or contacted us by email, phone, or the booking app. There were many options. The way the staff member treated us in the middle of the night was extremely rude and unprofessional. Atrocious experience.

Housekeeping was perfect, and breakfast was included for free, which made this one of the best value stays in Barcelona. The staff were really friendly too. One of the nicest places to stay here, highly recommend.
