Apartamentos Torrenueva Park

The view from our first-floor balcony was nice, but the neighborhood noise from dogs, along with plenty of ants, was a downside. Inside our apartment, the bathroom smelled of sewage. I spent the week pouring five litres of bleach down the drains twice a day. The pool was okay, though the water was a bit dirty and the tiles around the edges were green. This is a dated, run-down apartment complex. The road-side apartments have a long shared walkway past all the front doors, a bit like many British council flats.

We’d stayed here before, but this time we weren’t impressed. The apartment had cockroaches and ants, and the bug spray in the kitchen made it seem like this might be a regular problem. The whole complex is run down and could use a good tidy-up and a lick of paint. It’s quite a walk into Mijas. Such a shame.

We booked four nights but only managed one. After checking in, we left the next day because we couldn’t tolerate the place any longer. The beds were very firm and the bedding poor, and I woke with a backache. The whole complex felt extremely tired and dated, from the faded green plastic chairs to the poor kitchen facilities. It’s built on a hill, and the beach is definitely not 350 yards away. It’s a ten-minute walk down to the motorway bridge, then farther across to the beach and town. The apartments are surrounded by confusing paths and slopes, so they’re definitely unsuitable for older people or anyone with walking difficulties. Better accommodation is readily available for not much more money. Avoid.

The staff were warm and friendly, and nothing was too much trouble. We had everything we needed in the apartment, including a lovely garden with a view. It was spotlessly clean, and they provided a cot and bedding for our baby son. The kitchen had an oven, stove, pots and pans, and a washing machine. Air conditioning in the living room worked very well, and the blackout blinds helped our baby sleep soundly. The pool is beautiful and was very quiet, with a brilliant view of the sea below. You can rent sun loungers at reception. The supermarket, restaurants, and beach are just a quick five-minute walk away. We had a wonderful stay, highly recommend it, and will definitely be back.
