ibis Styles A Coruña

We found out on arrival that the hotel is in an industrial area, and opening the windows wasn't an option because the air quality was poor. The room had a strong sewage smell as soon as we checked into Ibis La Coruña (Spain). We asked reception to fix it or change our room, and they said they'd handle it while we were out. Four hours later, nothing had changed except that staff had sprayed air freshener, making it smell like sewage mixed with chemicals. Reception showed no willingness to sort it out and offered no alternative. The room conditions and treatment of guests are unacceptable for a hotel of this standard. Not recommended.

The hotel is in an industrial zone, which we only discovered when checking in, and the air quality was terrible. We couldn't open the windows. There was a machine for ozonation and air purification, it turned out, and cleaning with it takes about an hour. They did clean our room, but we had to wait in the bar until 23-00 while they worked, even though we'd planned to rest before getting up early. When we first entered the room, there was a sharp, unpleasant sewage smell. We asked reception to fix it or move us, and they promised it would be sorted by the time we got back. Four hours later, nothing had changed except that workers had sprayed air freshener, so the smell was sewage mixed with air freshener. Why didn't they clean the room right away? Why did they put us in a room with such a strong, disgusting smell? This treatment of guests and rooms in this condition are unacceptable for a hotel.

A nice, modern hotel with roomy rooms. We only missed having a fridge in the room, though you can use the one at reception. If you're lucky, you can park for free in front of the hotel; otherwise, there's underground parking for €10/day.

The bed was so good, and the Front Desk helped us a lot. The man and woman working the morning reception shift were especially helpful, though unfortunately I didn't catch their names. Breakfast both days was good and had lots of options. It would be nice to have vegan yogurt, or even lactose-free yogurt, if there's room for it. The hotel is pretty, but the room decor and furniture looked less attractive than the lobby for a 4-star hotel. I still truly recommend staying here.
