Hotel Servigroup Galúa

Dear Director Suzanne Reus, thank you, and please pass my thanks on to all your staff for making our stay at the Galua so lovely. We were welcomed warmly again and felt like part of the Galua Family. Jose Miguel had already helped us sort out a problem before we arrived, and we’re especially grateful to him. Please thank everyone at your next team meeting. The rooms were spotless and the staff were nice, but we left feeling intimidated and disappointed. My wife and another English couple felt uncomfortable when two very large Spanish wedding parties seemed to take over the hotel. At the buffet, guests grabbed food with their hands as soon as it was put out. The food was poor and very cold, so although we’d paid for full board, we only ate breakfast and one dinner before paying to eat elsewhere. The wedding guests brought guitars and sang outside the bar until 2 a.m., and noise carries into the rooms from above and both sides. We’d booked a long weekend to try the place. The first day was lovely because the hotel wasn’t full, but the next two were a living nightmare. I usually rent villas or nice apartments in Spain, and this was my first hotel stay there. If you want a relaxing holiday with good food, avoid this hotel.

We had plenty of sunbeds, and everything was clean. The rooms are amazing, with beautiful views, but the buffet wasn’t great. A large group arrived while we were there and the bar staff couldn’t keep up, so we couldn’t get drinks. Management should have been better prepared. Our key card failed to open the room door five times and wouldn’t operate the car park gate or the gate between the beach and pool. A few little fixes would make this place amazing.

We love this hotel. Its location is hard to beat, it was very clean again, and we could always find a sunbed. The staff are friendly and helpful, and booking the spa was easy. Last year, when we came in low season, I gave it five stars in every category. This visit was in August and early September, and the assisted buffet during our first week meant fewer food choices than last year’s usual buffet. Service was often slow, too, because there weren’t enough staff. We asked why it was being done that way and were told it had been like that all season, so we accepted it. Then, on 1 September, breakfast switched back to normal service. We first thought it was because there were fewer guests, but after that there were more people than ever for the rest of our stay, and the food choices improved. Could you explain why it changed? Most of the outside bar staff were pleasant, though some of the younger ones weren’t as friendly. Our room wasn’t serviced until at least 3 p.m. each day, so replacement toiletries were hit and miss, probably because staff were rushing. It’s a shame these smaller details weren’t quite right. I’m sure they can be fixed.
