Francesco, Manuela and their family were incredibly kind, and always available for questions. During my five nights there, I could see that the B&B brings in a good bunch of people. Great energy! It’s in a quiet part of Lajares, and the bedrooms, private bathrooms and shared areas are all spacious and clean. I cook a lot for myself, so although the kitchen is well equipped and has everything needed, some utensils, pots and pans could do with an upgrade. The Wi-Fi was weaker than in other parts of Lajares, which made working remotely challenging, but there are plenty of coffee shops in town with a good connection.

What made the place for me was the people running it. They were welcoming, friendly and helpful. The other guests also made it feel like one big family, with interesting people from all over who were friendly and generous. In the evenings, everyone sat around the table eating, chatting and sharing stories. Da Mata is clean and comfortable, with comfy beds and a delicious breakfast. It’s well outside town, so there’s no traffic noise and it’s very peaceful. Excellent value too. I’d definitely stay again.
