Gato Azul Coliving

I stayed here in January 2026, and winter was tricky. The town can be damp and chilly, and the common areas felt cold and damp too, which hurt the atmosphere. My room's windows were ancient, just wood and single-pane glass, with a gap over 1 cm wide. Cold air and street noise came straight in, and the thermometer showed 15°C indoors. I'm sure the place is much better from April to November. Hopefully they fix the windows before next winter.

La Orotava makes a good base, with a nice town and easy access to the rest of the island. The house felt comfortable, like a home away from home, and I really enjoyed staying there and living with my housemates. Sonia the manager gave me a friendly welcome.

I enjoyed every moment in this lovely house. It's charming, comfortable, and so cozy, with a great location. A nice place to work remotely and meet lovely people.

The people I met were the hardest part to say goodbye to. The house has a cool old feel, with interesting corners and decor, and I loved the roofdeck, back garden, sauna, and shaded work table up top. It was mostly a self-directed co-working setup, which suited me. I expected more people to be working there, but there were fewer, and I ended up working less than I thought because there was so much to do on the island. Conversations turned into spontaneous adventures, including renting motorcycles and riding up to climb Teide at 1:30 in the morning. Epic. The house stays cool, so I'll bring slippers next time. Its location in central Orotava was a treat and a great base for bicycling Teide while I trained for a tour of Fuerteventura.
