Estival Park Silmar

The duplex room is really nice, and the upstairs room is absolutely huge. The hotel is clean overall and the staff are friendly. We've been here a few days of our week-long stay. Every day there are cigarette butts on our balcony even though we don't smoke. I can only assume people are throwing them down from higher balconies. It's a good family hotel in a nice location, but the food isn't great. I wouldn't come again.

What made the hotel special was the entertainment team. Gabri and Maria were wonderful with both the children and the guests, absolutely brilliant people. We were sorry not to stay longer and get to know them better. The waiters were also super friendly and welcoming, making you feel more like a friend than a customer. We stayed a week, and the food changed every day, so there was always something new to try. The pool stays cool, and the beach is just a 3 minute walk away if you want a break from the hustle.

The room looked lovely, with modern decor and touches of traditional spanish style. It had a free safe and fridge, plus a TV you can sync your phone to. All-inclusive food was a good selection, with self-serve drinks and bar service. People were always queuing for the snack bar, which is handy when you want a bite during the day. The restaurant got busy, but there was always something to eat and they seemed to have a different cuisine theme each night. Still, this hotel is clearly set up for families with kids. There are activities all day and night, but for a couple hoping for a relaxing getaway, it couldn't be worse. The pool area was extremely loud, with constant entertainment and music blaring, and the pool was too small for the hotel. I ended up retreating to my room, but the thin walls and noisy neighbours made relaxing there impossible too. The entertainment staff outside were a highlight, always trying to include everyone and full of energy. The room was supposedly cleaned daily except Sundays, but they mostly just made the bed and sometimes changed the bin bag. I don't think the sheets were changed all week, and they didn't seem to check the bathroom. The staff generally weren't friendly. I felt unwelcome, and no one at reception or in the restaurant smiled at me all week. The bar staff were polite, but only after I spoke to them in spanish. The area around the hotel is lovely and worth exploring. This wasn't a great stay, and I left more exhausted than when I arrived. That's partly on me and my partner not being their ideal guests, since it is a hotel aimed at families with children. I don't think I'll return, but if you've got young kids to keep entertained all day, it might suit you.

Food was really nice, with good choice and quality, and the entertainment was very good for kids. It's in a good spot with a nice beach. But I wouldn't return. Check-in was very slow, and the sunbed setup was a joke. There weren't enough, and beds were taken away to give to Spanish guests. Good luck finding one and keeping it. The pool was small and extremely busy. The €10 towel deposit also seemed unfair, since that's €50 you won't get back until the end of your holiday. The rooms are nice, but I wouldn't call them clean. They empty the bin and bring clean towels.
