Hotel Best Sol d'Or

The beach is only a short walk away, and the sea was clean, with fine sand and a gradual way into the water. The calm, pleasant surroundings felt especially good for families with small children. Our room was spacious, bright and comfortable, with a large bathroom and shower. The hotel also worked well for families and was fully wheelchair accessible, making things easier for guests with limited mobility. There was a rich, varied food selection, and everything was tasty and fresh, with something to choose from each time. We were completely satisfied and our stay exceeded expectations. The comfort, service quality and location made this a five-star stay for us.

The rooms were basic, but spotless, which mattered most to us travelling with young children. Staff were friendly and very helpful whenever we needed something, and the local businesses were welcoming too. Food was good with a decent selection that suited adults and children. The all-inclusive bar snacks were a little limited, but still fine. We had a great first family holiday here last summer with our five- and two-year-olds. I was surprised by reviews complaining about lots of children, since there’s a pool designed specifically for young kids. Families naturally come here, so there’s the lively, happy noise you’d expect. We’d happily recommend it to families with young children and wouldn’t hesitate to book again.

May 2026 was a bit of a weather gamble for a British visitor, though the temperatures were good. Bring earplugs, or pick some up at a local pharmacy for €2, if you’re not planning to get blind drunk every night. There were groups from lots of countries, a couple of fights, service noise and general noise. The hotel is nice, and the food was great, with a good selection at each service, though the portions looked small. I’d go full board instead of all-inclusive. The pool was cold in May, and the local beach is rough, but it’s nice for an evening walk. Michelangelo was a great coffee shop and supermarket.

We spent five nights in May 2026, three adults and a toddler across two rooms. The location is perfect for the beach, the kids’ pool and slides are fantastic, and the rooms are great and very clean. But I wouldn’t stay again. We tried this resort instead of nearby Salou, which is easy to reach by transport, and found little to do within walking distance for families. Salou had little parks and amusements, but we couldn’t find those in La Pineda. Some staff were rude, as other reviews had said, and there isn’t much locally. The walls are thin, so noisy neighbours can be a problem. The food was bad, and feeding a child would be hard. Our daughter lived on chips, pasta and ice cream. Burgers and sausages involved queues, and they made so few at a time that people took several and left none. The final night was shocking, with several people walking out. The few wait staff seemed more attentive to guests paying for drinks than to us on all-inclusive, and people often had to ask for another drink. Unless food had just been freshly made, everything was cold or lukewarm. We saw people microwaving their meals.
