Arganzón Plaza

A lovely hotel for our stop on the way from London to Granada with our two cats. The bar downstairs was great, and having the cats upstairs made it easy to pop down for food.

The rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable, with a handy little kitchen unit tucked into a large cupboard, including a small sink, hob and fridge. The hotel itself has no restaurant, though the adjoining bar is popular and serves food. Staff were friendly and helpful, but weren't always easy to find. It's a characterful place next to the village square, with a few secure private parking spaces. If those are taken, you can park on nearby roads. Rooms are on the upper floors, and access is by stairs only.

A convenient pet friendly stop just off the highway while travelling through Basque Country toward France. The updated apartments are spacious, with a contemporary minimalist look, and there's protected parking in a garage connected to the apartment. It was warm enough, though the floors felt cold and could use some rugs. I also found dusty patches: when my phone slipped under a small bedroom chair, it came out covered in dust and hair. The town itself is quaint and pretty.

The village is lovely once you're away from the bar, hotel and square, and the church-facing location looks picturesque when you arrive. Our stay was the opposite of idyllic. After a five-hour drive, we wanted a quiet place to relax, but a party in a function room along the corridor was already loud with music and singing. The bar next door didn't serve food until 8 pm, and it was only 6:30, so we had drinks and eventually ate before returning to the room. People filled the square outside our bedroom, and children shouted and ran around until midnight. The noise through the single-glazed window was horrendous. Dogs were barking in the next room, too. The bed was shorter than a standard double, the bedroom door wouldn't lock properly, and there were no shelves or cupboards for our things. There was nobody from staff on site to help with anything. Don't stay here if you want peace and quiet.
