Camping Lago Barasona

We only wished we could stay longer. The lakeside bar made for a lovely afternoon, with a nice view, simple but good food, and friendly staff. The campsite is close to the lake, and its bathroom facilities are clean and modern. Everyone we met was welcoming.

The protected cycle lane runs along the main road all the way into Graus, which is handy. The road itself can be a little noisy, though. Across it, a tunnel gives access to the campsite’s own lakeside relaxation area. The site is really well kept.

The lakeside setting is lovely, and having two different pools gave us a bit of variety. I finally got some proper rest here, with spacious pitches where it’s easy to find shade. The sanitary facilities were excellent, roomy and very clean, and all the staff were kind and helpful, from reception and the kids’ club to the restaurant. The campsite restaurant was fantastic, with great flavours and good prices. The restaurant by the lake was a pleasant surprise for its location and atmosphere, though the food didn’t impress as much, and the portions felt small for the price. At €60 a night for our family of four, camping here felt a little expensive after a long summer staying at different campsites in Spain and France, where we’d been used to paying €40. Still, the quality made it worth it.

The location is nice, close to the reservoir, which you reach through a tunnel, but shopping nearby is limited. We paid extra for a larger pitch and the one we got was just okay, while some others looked much better. The lower pitches get very hot without a breeze, and they’re close to the playground, where noise carries until midnight. Free WiFi is available, but the connection is very poor. The electrical hookups are in odd spots, so you might need a long lead or have to run it across a road.
