Hotel Mas La Ferreria

The whole stay was unforgettable, from the spacious room and swimming pool to breakfast and dinner. Such a beautiful, peaceful place.

We came back for a second visit in two years to unwind from busy Barcelona, and Le Mas Ferreria really is a hidden gem. The grounds are surrounded by nature and birdsong, with incredible views. It feels like a farm stay but with a touch of luxury, and it was a privilege to be there. The hotel is thoughtfully set up, with lovely amenities and details. The pool is big and the water lovely, with no chlorine. We ate dinner at the hotel every night since it was convenient, and the local food was delicious. The croquettes are the best. The staff are very friendly and accommodating.

Service was uneven, with some staff wonderful and others making us feel like an inconvenience. We had to seek someone out when we wanted service on the fabulous sunbathing terrace. The terrace was a highlight, as were the large towels, straw beach bag, good quality products, and rubber shoes for the slightly rocky path down to the sea. Parking was easy, breakfast had a great selection, and the cocktails were good. Our room, number 8, had great views, even from the shower, and a small balcony, but its closeness to the outdoor restaurant meant late-night noise. The rooms seem to have been insulated as well as possible, though some choices still made noise, like chairs scraping when moved. The air conditioning blew onto my face at night. Please don’t use the kettles: clay bowls placed on top as lids look decorative but apparently weren’t supplied with them. My husband scalded his hand. Staff knew about it but didn’t replace the kettle or follow up, which felt a little careless. Wi-Fi was unreliable, so I had to take a conference call near reception.

I’ve stayed at this rural boutique hotel several times, and the team’s pride in the place and care over the details keep impressing me. The new restaurant made my latest visit especially memorable. The food is sensational, made with exceptional ingredients and prepared in a straightforward, unfussy way that suits the rural feel. It’s an elegant but unpretentious place where you can really unwind in comfort.
