Etxatoa

We felt more like guests in someone’s home than visitors at a place to stay. Iñaki was always glad to share what he knew about the area and took extra care to find us something good to do each day. The house itself is a lovely example of the region’s traditional homes, and we got to learn about Basque culture during our stay. He’s a lovely guy, and it’s a lovely place.

On my first solo cycling trip in the mountains, I somehow ended up here, and it felt just like home. Iñaki is friendly and down to earth, and I could have talked with him for hours. He has loads of advice about the mountains and life. The breakfasts are wonderful too. I rode the Apaolaza route and loved it. This is a great place to get a feel for the mountains of Navarre.

My mother gave me a stay at Etxatoa for my birthday, and I loved it. The house feels so warm and welcoming, and it’s easy to relax there. We nearly gave up on visiting Urederra, but thanks to Iñaki we went after all, and it was amazing, a real natural wonder. Sharing the trip with family and friends made it even more special. It’s a gift and an experience I’ll always remember, and I hope to come back. Thank you, Etxatoa! 🤗

Iñaki’s advice on places to visit, restaurants, and routes was excellent, and he’s like a walking Basque encyclopedia. The breakfast with its tasty local products was fantastic too. We were delighted with the house and the area during our stay over the La Purísima long weekend, and especially with his hospitality. We’ll come back for sure, there’s still so much left for us to see and do.
