Ona Alborada

We stayed from 18-25 February, and the weather was perfect, mostly 22-24 degrees during the day. Oña Alborada made the holiday feel special, and Tenerife is one of our favourite destinations now. The staff were lovely and spoke very good English. The food was good, everything was clean, and the scenery from the balcony was beautiful. I think all the rooms have a sea view. The pool was nice, though a bit chilly at first. It felt good for the skin, and we got used to it after a few minutes. There was plenty of space to sunbathe too. The hotel is about 1h30 by car from El Teide, with beautiful views that are well worth seeing, and 1h30 from Loro Parque, which is a must see. Siam is 30 minutes away by car. Beautiful beaches like El Duque and Las Americas are 20 minutes away. My kids loved Las Americas, with its clean beach, perfect waves, and amazing sparkling black sand. The roads were good and clean, so it was easy to go places by car, and the landscapes were breathtaking. Thanks to all the staff!

The staff were really nice, and breakfast was 10/10, with a good variety of eggs, desserts and lots more. The bed in our room was soft and comfortable. The living room bed, though, was really uncomfortable and hard to sleep on. The blanket had a small tear, I’ll show you the photo. They don’t clean every day, just every 7 days. A lovely pool, a beach right beside the hotel, and a nice coastal walk made this a perfect spot for the relaxing holiday we wanted. The area was quiet when we visited in January, off peak. If you want more nightlife or a day out, there’s a bus stop outside, and the bus takes card. It’s 30min to Los Cristianos. The rooms were large, the inside smelled fresh and clean, and the staff were very friendly. Outside, there was a drainage smell, though that’s normal in Spanish locations.

The apartments are spacious and nice, with a good view. That’s the main positive. The dishes in the cupboards weren’t clean, and the location isn’t ideal if you don’t have a car. There’s a charge for almost everything, even luggage storage. Cleaning happens only once a week, and that just means changing the towels and bed sheets. They don’t vacuum at all. For two people, they leave only one hand towel, and you have to pay if you want extra or clean towels. Check-in is at 4:00 p.m. and check-out at 10:00 a.m. Our room was ready earlier, but they still refused early check-in. It felt unfriendly and very inflexible. The internet was extremely unstable, and there was no access at all for a whole day. Staff said it affected the whole neighborhood, but the nearby cafés all had working Wi-Fi. If you need to work remotely, this definitely isn’t the place. The staff and management were among the worst I’ve experienced. The poor service, all the extra charges, and the lack of flexibility make this hotel hard to recommend.
