Villa Cornelius

The house was spacious and had everything we needed for our group of 10 adults and 4 children. The barbecue was a hassle, though, and cooking took a long time even with all that room for a better setup. The biggest issue was the heating: the thermostat problems kept making it shut off. The bedrooms were freezing while the bathrooms got unbearably hot. We told the house manager, but it wasn't resolved. Apart from those problems, things were fine.

There are loads of kitchen utensils, and the owner was considerate and flexible. The house is in good shape, with a nice location and lovely surroundings. The rooms are roomy, the beds comfortable, and it can be accessed by people with reduced mobility. It has the basic amenities plus some thoughtful extras. Cleaning could be better, though I can imagine a big house is hard to keep up. Definitely recommend it.

They sorted out our reservation issue right away and were very kind about it. We really appreciate that and hope we can stay at their house soon.

There’s a nice walk through olive and almond groves to a viewpoint above the river. We visited in winter, though, and it seems like this place would be more enjoyable in summer. It’s a country house near the river, right in a quiet Toledo village, with lots of comfortable features: open spaces, heating and air conditioning, a huge kitchen, a games room, en-suite bathrooms in every bedroom, plus a pool, covered bar area, gas barbecue, and lawn. There are some awkward bits too. The entrance street is very narrow, the children’s playroom is across the pool, two bedrooms are reached by a walkway and have sloping ceilings, and the mattresses are very soft.
