The only good thing was the location, a two-minute walk from the beach. I spent most of my time there because I couldn’t bear to stay in that hellhole any longer than necessary. I know you get what you pay for, but I wouldn’t stay here again even if it were free. The room was very dated, with a rusty table and chairs, and the bathroom was dirty. The bath was disgusting, with a rusty plughole. The apartment is on a very busy road, so if you like sleep, don’t expect much here. It was supposed to be self-catering, but there was no kettle, toaster, or oven. I couldn’t lock the door from inside because the keyhole had been blocked up. The guy at reception was grumpy and unhelpful. I should have left right then, but I thought I’d stick it out. I’m glad it was only three nights. If I’d been staying longer, I definitely would have moved elsewhere.

The place was spotlessly clean. The cleaning lady came by every day to ask if I needed anything, and the beds were changed twice a week. I stayed for two weeks and found the beds comfortable. The kitchen was adequate too, and I cooked every day, making do with what was there. My room was 301, facing the street. It could be noisy now and then, but this is a city. I put a chair and table on the balcony and enjoyed watching the street in the mornings as people set up tables and umbrellas, and seeing the sunrise. The beach is straight down Tomas Miller Street, about two minutes away, or you can take one of the side streets to the left and reach different parts of it. There’s a Spar grocery store two minutes away and a bazaar shop a minute away for things like sandals, sunglasses, or sewing kits. The photos are from my balcony. The price was a bargain. Don’t come if a few cracked tiles or the lack of a kettle and toaster will annoy you. Staff don’t speak much English, but this is Spain and we visitors should make an effort. A few gestures and Google Translate are enough to get on fine.

For the four nights we stayed in a studio at Apartamentos Catalina Park, the kind staff and lively, fairly central location were the main positives. Beyond that, I wouldn’t recommend it unless you’re on a really tight budget and only need somewhere for a night. We often found bugs in the bathroom. We’d been told cleaning happened daily except Thursdays and Sundays, but the room was cleaned only once. There was no dishwashing liquid or basic cooking utensils, and the thin windows let in all the street noise at night. It was boiling hot in the room, with no fan, and our towels were never replaced despite being told they’d be washed every three days. There’s only one hairdryer for the whole building, so you have to ask at reception. When I used it, it caught fire. The flames reached the pillows, and we had to put out the small fire that followed. It was terrifying and completely unexpected. The staff were very kind and regretful about what happened, but I wouldn’t tell people to book Apartamentos Catalina Park. If you’re not on a REALLY tight budget, don’t even think about it.

The rooms are a little noisy, but I can tolerate it and it doesn’t get in the way of my rest. I’ve stayed at this hotel twice now and really like it. We were welcomed very well, and the staff are good and responsive. When we left, receptionist Miriam saw us off and was very kind and friendly. Thank you for the nice time at Apartamentos Catalina Park Hotel.

The staff are friendly and helpful, and the language barrier wasn’t an issue with Google Translate. For what I paid, I couldn’t ask for more, and I’d definitely come back. It’s cheap and cheerful. If you want five-star, pay five-star prices. The location is great for everything, including the beautiful beach. The little rooms are basic but clean, and being a bit noisy doesn’t bother me in the middle of a city centre. I’m in 305 at the moment, which has no balcony or clothes airer. There are only a few airers on the terraces, which are dated, and the loungers could do with an update. It’s not great for self-catering either, with limited cooking facilities and no plug socket in the bathroom.
