The junior suite was great in most ways: staff, location, breakfast, and beach towels were all good. The layout was odd, though. The shower was in the room rather than the bathroom, behind partly frosted glass walls, so it wouldn't suit someone very modest. The toilet was in its own separate space. Now and then, there was also a sewer smell.
We didn't book meals, so I can't say anything about the food. The rooms were stylish and tidy, and the friendly reception staff added to the clean, welcoming feel. It's a modern hotel in a great spot, with a rooftop bar serving excellent drinks. Sunset up there is especially lovely.
The rooms are small, but clean and practical. For a short stay in Las Palmas, the location works really well: you're in the city, right by the beach, and only a short walk from the Santa Catalina bus station. I'd also check out the rooftop bar for its great view of the beach from Las Canterras.
We came to Las Palmas for a football match and stayed one night. The rooms are cozy and quiet, and we slept very well. The hotel is in a great location, and the buffet breakfast was good, though it costs extra. The Rocktop roof terrace is amazing.
The Occidental made for a relaxing stay, just a couple of blocks from the beach. The room was clean and quiet, with great air conditioning and Wi-Fi, and the rooftop bar was terrific. The neighborhood is fairly ordinary and workaday, with things shut down at night, but it didn't feel unsafe.
