Hostel Las Palmas by Youroom

For a solo backpacker on a budget, this was a phenomenal deal. The hostel is in a great area, with lots of buses to other parts of the island just a short walk away. I stayed a week and there were events every night, including karaoke, peer pong, pub crawls and movie nights. They made it easy to meet people and enjoy Las Palmas and beyond. Big shout-out to Rey for hosting and making everyone feel welcome. I’d recommend it for the fun vibe alone.

There are big kitchens and fridges with space for everyone, the volunteers clean several times a day, and the terrace is amazing. The staff are friendly and helpful too. I really like this hostel. The only uncomfortable bit was the three-level bunk beds, which I’d never seen before. I had to watch my head when getting up. Otherwise, the accommodation is perfect for the price.

The roof terrace has a great view, and having three kitchens is a big plus. There are always fun events going on, and the staff and management were so welcoming. I was travelling alone as a woman and felt right at home. I meant to stay three days but ended up staying ten. Special shout-out to my girl happy, who made me feel like I had a friend right away. Highly recommend!

This was a really unpleasant stay. We had booked a room with a private bathroom and politely asked about checking in early, but got no answer. When we arrived, we were told to wait another three hours because the room wasn’t ready. Once we finally got in, the bedding was dirty and unmade, with pizza boxes on the bed, an empty chip bag on the floor, more food rubbish on the nightstand and a terrible smell. The receptionist was rude and didn’t even apologize for making us wait longer while they changed our room, even though we were tired from travelling. The replacement room had plenty of problems too. Its window was between the room and the hallway, so stale air and smells from people cooking in the shared kitchen came in. The bathroom had no door, leaving no privacy, and the broken shower door let water leak out into the room. The bedding there didn’t look clean either. At night, other guests were excessively noisy. We couldn’t wait to leave. I don’t recommend this hostel at all. Avoid it.
