Domus Oncinae

Dinner was exceptionally good, and I'd highly recommend staying here. The accommodation is really lovely, set around a courtyard, with a pitched ceiling and comfortable twin beds.

The hotel's service was good, and I still think it's a nice place overall, so it's a shame our room disappointed us this time. I stayed here before and had a very good experience. This visit, my partner and I spent one night while travelling around Asturias. Our ground-floor room clearly needed renovation: the walls were damp, the skirting boards were moulding, and the shower curtain was damaged.

The food was a highlight of our Camino so far. Lunch was the best we'd had, especially the burrata salad, which was the most amazing dish I've eaten in years. The entrees were excellent too, as was dessert, and breakfast was plentiful with nothing missing. At Domus Oncinae, the rooms were sparkling clean, the beds felt like clouds, and the towels were soft. The outdoor area was pleasant for sitting in daylight. Everyone on staff, from Juan (the owner) to Jose and all the women, was very nice and went out of their way to help. I hope people reading this take time to stay at this gem of a hotel. Don't miss it.

We booked through booking and sent several messages there, but nobody replied. When we got to reception to check in, there was no one around. We rang the bell and looked about, then waited what felt like ages. The room looked nice, but the build quality seemed poor, like they'd chosen the cheapest renovation possible. The heating was set so high that it was almost impossible to sleep comfortably. Noise came through from everywhere: kids running in the hotel, people talking in the next room, and phone alarms from other rooms. There was no privacy or quiet. It felt like sharing with 10 people, with only a curtain between beds. I woke up every 30 minutes, and one nearby alarm rang for an hour. Worst night's sleep I've had in years. Don't stay here unless you can handle being disturbed constantly and sleeping in a very hot room.
