The view was pretty shocking, straight onto two other bedroom windows across the interior courtyard. And the walk-in shower flooded the bathroom every time, leaving a puddle. The bedroom’s touch screen lighting was tricky too, since I needed a light just to see what I was turning on and off. The hotel is in a great central spot and feels very modern, though the shared areas could use a refresh. Lots of style, not much substance. Would I stay again? Probably, but they could do better.

Having the spa to ourselves for an hour was a lovely way to get ready for a busy 10-day trip. It’s also a comfortable, modern place to recover from jet lag, with everything convenient and all the León sights within a 5-10 minute walk. The staff seemed a little cold, though that could just be a cultural difference.

The breakfast team was slow to refill things and reset the tables. In the bathroom, the rain shower was mounted too high, and the water pressure was weak, so the shower was disappointing. The hotel looks very chic and has good facilities, but the black glossy floors and constant dim lighting felt unsettling to me. The electronic touch controls for the lights, blinds and window were so overcomplicated that it was frustrating to figure them out for a one-night stay.

The bed was okay, but I’d have liked firmer pillows. The room itself looks great. I still can’t figure out why the air conditioning switches off on its own and never comes back on. The lighting controls are just as baffling, like you need a five-page manual to work them. Why make it all so complicated?
