Posada de Seña

Maria’s warm hospitality and the breakfasts she prepares with such care make this a really welcoming place. The village is incredibly peaceful, and everything was great during our three-night stay. If I had to mention one small drawback, the pillow felt a bit too low.

The owner is very friendly, and the breakfasts are great. It’s wonderfully peaceful once you get there, a perfect place to relax. The road from Laredo is narrow and winding, and a few things in the room and bathroom seemed neglected. Apart from that, it’s fantastic.

The manager is friendly and easy to talk to, and she knows Cantabria well if you want recommendations. Seña is a very quiet village with good views, though children sometimes stay in the square in front of the inn late, chatting and playing. For lunch or dinner, you’ll need to go to Laredo. It’s nearby, about 3 km along a rural two-way road with little traffic, so getting around the province is fairly easy and convenient, including from the A8 motorway. Since the inn is in a converted house, room sizes vary and some have terraces. The upper-floor attic rooms can get quite hot, have no balcony and are small, with barely enough space for the bed. In one of the two rooms, I’d say the bed was under 1.35 m wide, so that room was really just for sleeping. The rooms are cleaned thoroughly every day, though I’d prefer if things weren’t moved after cleaning. Breakfast was acceptable: fresh orange juice, hot coffee, a croissant, toast with Nutella and a sobao. Some days there was a slice of tomato or cheesecake. It was all tasty and enough to start the day, but something fresh like tomatoes or fruit would have been nice.

The inn is in a peaceful setting, and María offers excellent service, attention and breakfast. The location is good, though the road there has about 3 km of winding stretches.
