Casa Pescadores Playas de Llança - 1114

I'm quite fussy about hospitality, and Hotel Carbonell is one of the few places where I've felt at home. We've been delighted both times we stayed. This year we had an apartment; last year we tried a double room. The rooms were clean and spacious, breakfast was great, and the staff were exceptionally kind and helpful with everything, big or small. One of the best places to stay in Llançà, if not the best.

In winter, reception isn't always open, though I understand there are very few tourists in Llançà then. Otherwise, a very good hotel, better than two stars in my view, more like three. There's a nice sun terrace on the second floor, the rooms are clean and in good condition, and the WiFi is okay. Staff speak basic English, so it's easy enough to communicate. The service is very good.

We had an awful experience here. When we asked to move rooms because the AC wasn't working, the owner made a racist, derogatory remark about my partner's country of birth in Catalan, assuming my partner wouldn't understand. The atmosphere felt extremely uncomfortable and racist, and we felt so unwelcome that we left after one night despite having booked four. The owner said she wouldn't refund us unless she managed to rent the room out, so we ended up paying for the whole stay even though we'd left early. It was the worst booking experience we've ever had. Avoid this place.

For a two-star hotel, it does what you’d expect. The room was clean, with decent facilities, a good mattress and a proper bathroom. The decor is plain and Spartan, but the price is very affordable, and breakfast was good too. Perfectly fine for the money.
