Dinner and breakfast were delicious, especially the homegrown eggs. The bed was comfortable, everything was spotless, and the firewood was already cut and ready to light. The staff were so welcoming and showed us around the greenhouse and the picnic area, which has room for children. A really special place for a getaway, with a jacuzzi bath too.

I loved sitting by the little pasture behind our unit, watching around 15 bulls, cows, and calves interact at their own pace. It felt like stepping into Arredondo time. Though only a couple of miles from the busy beach town of Celirio, the property seems a world away. I’d tell people to stay here. My wife and I arrived by bike, which I hadn’t told the property in advance. Manual sorted out the problem in two minutes. He and Marta, the server, were keen to look after guests, but in a relaxed, very Arredondo way. The homemade rice pudding was the best I’ve ever had. Breakfast was fantastic too, with fresh eggs, great bread and pastries, and thick strips of rice bacon without gristle. As we pedalled off the next morning, the other guests all looked happy, relaxed, and content. I think that’s what a night at Hotel Rural Arredondo gives you.

The setting is calm and relaxing, a comfortable place to get close to nature and get away for a while. We booked a room with a chimney, which is especially lovely in autumn and winter. There’s also a big, cozy chimney in the shared area where you can have a cocktail or read. The room was warm, clean, tidy, and decorated in the hotel’s style, with lovely attention to detail. The restaurant is nice, though there aren’t other places to eat without driving. If we get the chance, we’ll definitely come back.

Lovely hosts, and the place is surrounded by greenery and animals. The food is fresh and local, and it’s a good place to dine, though not the best in the neighborhood.

We stayed there in summer 2017 and absolutely loved the grounds, buildings, food, and the way we were treated. Hope we can return someday.
