Hotel Rural Arpa De Hierba

We really enjoyed our stay at Arpa de Hierba. At the end of May we were the only guests, though I expect even a full house couldn't spoil this beautiful B&B. It's a short drive from Llanes. Our gorgeous room faced an impressive mountain range, and was spacious, immaculate, charmingly decorated, and comfortable. Breakfast was delightful. The hosts, Patricia and Luis, were wonderful, friendly, welcoming, and knew the region well. On their recommendation, we visited some very beautiful beaches. They pay outstanding attention to detail and are completely committed to making guests comfortable. We highly recommend staying here.

The hiking tips and local knowledge made this a highlight of our month in Northern Spain. French was widely spoken, and we got great ideas for the north coast, lovely towns, and other special spots we’d never have found ourselves. It’s the kind of place you hate to leave. The property is wonderful, and the hosting was impeccable.

Asterias felt more like joining a family than staying in a house. Everyone was warm and welcoming, and even though it was fully booked, it never felt crowded. The whole place was peaceful, just what I wanted, and I can’t wait to come back. There’s free parking on site, and a little Spanish helps, though you shouldn’t be put off if you don’t speak it. The location is about a 10 minute drive from Llanes. If you’re coming mainly to hike in Picos de Europa, allow about an hour’s drive. I enjoyed the route through small towns and great mountain roads, but it’s good to know. You can hear a little from other rooms, mostly taps and toilets flushing rather than people talking, but it shouldn’t keep you awake.

The hosts were probably among the best we’ve ever stayed with. Such amazing people, and an amazing place. I’d absolutely recommend staying here.
