Casa Llibertat

We had a great time at Casa Llibertat last September. The hosts were friendly and shared good ideas for restaurants and sightseeing. Our room was clean and comfortable, and there are lots of cute spots for a delicious breakfast. My favorite was the one at the vineyard. I’d definitely recommend staying here.

The hosts were so friendly and did everything they could to make our stay enjoyable. The rooms are top notch, and the breakfasts were fantastic. It’s a beautiful bed and breakfast in a convenient spot, close to Alicante, Valencia, and lovely villages like Altea. Highly recommended!

My stay at this accommodation was unsatisfactory because of several issues and practices that I found lacking in transparency, and I think they should be set out clearly. The main problem with the booking was that I had requested a room for €115 per night before arrival, and this was confirmed by email. On the day itself, I was told that only a house at €135 per night was available, with no alternative offered. When we arrived, the place was completely empty except for my partner and me. I was told there hadn’t been time to clean the room I’d requested, which is hard to understand at a property with so few rooms. I had also emailed beforehand to say we would stay two nights, with the possibility of a third, and that arrangement had been accepted. Later, I was asked to pay for an extra night we did not use, despite the earlier written messages explicitly mentioning that possibility. There were problems with the payment as well. At first I was told it had to be in cash and even advised to go to an ATM. Cards and Bizum weren’t accepted. After I insisted, they agreed to a bank transfer. I later asked for an invoice and was refused, on the grounds that this was a “private host.” In Spain, when someone charges for accommodation, they are required to provide an invoice or proof of payment regardless of what the business is called. The hot water system was said to need hours to heat up when we arrived, and I accepted that. But the next day the hot water lasted about five minutes, enough for just one person, so my partner couldn’t shower with hot water. For accommodation at this price, I don’t think that’s acceptable. They also asked us to leave at 11:00. Given what had happened, I wish they’d shown some understanding and let us stay a little longer. Taken together, I experienced changes to the terms, unusual payment demands, a refusal to issue an invoice, shortcomings in basic services, and little flexibility or empathy despite the situation having been explained in writing beforehand. My assessment is negative, and I think other guests should know about these events before booking.

We enjoyed our stay so much. The room was beautiful and spacious, and the service was amazing. Each morning we had a delicious breakfast in one of several little nooks, where we could sit together quietly. John and John were perfect hosts, always happy to answer any question. There’s plenty to do nearby, from walks and cycling to visits to the beaches. A huge thank you to J&J for the wonderful job you do.
