Hotel Bluesea Copacabana

The hotel is in a fantastic spot, close to everything, and the bar area is nice. The rooms, though, are awful. The decor feels like the 70s, things are falling apart, the toilet blocked several times, and the shower was tiny. Breakfast was poor too. We booked bed and breakfast but went out most mornings because it was cold and there wasn't much choice. It was an okay hotel break, but we won't be coming back.

Don't stay here. Our room smelled musty or moldy, the shower didn't work, and the balcony sloped just enough to make it feel like you might slide off. The cleaner also came into our room despite the Do Not Disturb sign. The food was often cold and greasy, and on one day every meal was inedible, so we had to eat elsewhere. The menu changed daily. All-inclusive didn't begin until 10am, and when I asked for coffee, I got it in a cardboard espresso cup no matter what kind I'd asked for. Most of the staff were nice, but one was incredibly rude when I asked for a glass of coke at lunchtime.

I usually don't need much to be happy, but this hotel was horrid. The rooms were really small, hard to move around in and very worn. Our aircon leaked throughout the holiday. Maintenance came after we mentioned it, but the problem wasn't fixed. Cleaners did make the bed and mop the floor every day, though they never changed the sheets. The pool was okay and big enough for a swim, but almost all of the sun loungers were broken and extremely dirty. Some staff were very rude, though the receptionist and bartenders were always lovely. The food was disgusting. Most of the time it was cold, and on the rare occasion it was lukewarm. They seemed to heat it in a microwave. The all-inclusive drinks selection was very limited and heavily watered down. Normal alcohol cost extra, and I wouldn't recommend the machine-made cocktails, which tasted awful. We ended up going to a bar on the seafront for a proper drink. If the food had been good, my partner and I could have overlooked a lot of the other problems, but we went to a restaurant most evenings, which defeated the point of all-inclusive.

The food was decent and the hotel was good value for a 3 star stay. The staff were fantastic and the location was great. The rooms were clean, but both they and the rest of the hotel need updating.
