Hotel Ona Don Juan

Meals were chaotic, with so many people that guests were practically fighting over food, plates and cutlery. The corridors were noisy and crowded too, and the floor panels were loose and moving. I stayed one night and wouldn’t go back. The hotel needs renovation; the rooms look stuck in the 80s. I can’t recommend it.

Kids were yelling, slamming doors and playing in the halls until 1am, and the hotel was very loud. The hall flooring was broken and dangerous, and the place is badly outdated. There’s absolutely no way it deserves four stars. One of the worst hotels I’ve stayed in, and I wouldn’t recommend it.

The hotel was packed with unsupervised kids and young people running around, shouting, and even trying to break doors at night. Staff were rude and dismissive, and there was no security. WiFi didn’t work and there was no entertainment. The outdoor pool was filthy, with dead insects, food and wound dressings in the water. There were only 30 fragile sunbeds for thousands of guests, no parasols, and the pool deck felt dangerous. The indoor pool was closed, the advertised rooftop bar was locked, and rain flooded the corridors. The lounge chairs were few, shabby and deteriorating. Dining was just as bad. The food was poor, repetitive and mostly fried, with no vegetarian options. Queues were enormous, like concert lines. Guests often had to eat standing up, leaving dirty plates on counters beside cutlery that was supposed to be clean. Hygiene was terrible, the dining hall was freezing, and people stole and reused cutlery. The rooms were tiny, with cracked walls and balconies so narrow only one person could stand there. Sheets and towels were dirty even after replacements, toiletries were minimal, the shower flooded the floor, there was no minibar, and sound carried everywhere. Check-in was chaotic, with hundreds of guests overwhelming the tiny reception. Luggage storage was too small, so overflow was left outside or in a closed bar area. For the price, this place is a scam. The facilities, hygiene, food and service are far below any reasonable standard. Avoid it.

The location was pretty good, a short walk from the beach and restaurants, and most of the staff were helpful. One woman at reception seemed rude and not very customer-service oriented. The hotel itself is hard to believe is meant to be four stars, it’s very dated. The wooden pool patio had broken boards, the bathroom door and curtains were moldy, and only one slow elevator was working. You could hear people talking through the walls very easily.
