Evenia Olympic Palace

The staff are very friendly, but our Palace room feels like half-finished work from 15-20 years ago. It’s all old. The toilet has limescale stains, the tiny old-fashioned shower is in the bathtub, and the water temperature keeps changing. There’s no working bathroom extractor, so everything stays damp, and the mirror fogs up. We booked for three, but had only two plastic chairs on the balcony. They’re uncomfortable, upright chairs, so it’s not somewhere to relax. The towel line was hanging loose, probably pulled off the wall and then wrapped around the fence. In one room, the TV partly blocks the mirror. If quiet evenings and proper sleep matter to you, I’d pick somewhere else. Noise came through the thin, uninsulated walls and along the corridors, from footsteps and voices to every door closing. There’s no quiet time, and for several nights other guests kept us awake well past midnight. Some weren’t considerate, but even ordinary sounds carry clearly. Earplugs would need to be top notch. The staff are friendly, the food selection is great and the location is reasonable. Still, this wasn’t the calm, relaxed break with fun during the day and peace at night that we wanted. The building is older, and if you’re fussy about cleanliness, be aware that the painted shower tiles are starting to peel. The bathroom door is badly weathered, with rot at the bottom from shower water.

The rooms are average for a family hotel, but the food was incredible, especially at lunch. There are plenty of pools to relax by, and the entertainment has been amazing. It’s also close to lots of places, including bars and the beach.

The staff were kind and hospitable, and the food was good. The rest of the stay was awful. My family caught a virus from the pool or food, and spent four days in the room vomiting. We also arrived to find that there was no tennis court, even though other sites advertised a tennis facility at the hotel in February. Our room and our friends’ room were booked far apart, despite us asking in a reservation message back in February to be together. The hotel forgot about the request, and never replied when we complained.
