Breakfast was hard to fault, with plenty of continental pastries and a good hot selection that stayed hot. The location was handy too, about 10 minutes to the beach past shops and restaurants, and a 20-minute walk into Lloret. A taxi took 5 minutes and cost €7/8. Nights were quiet apart from the odd door closing. It’s a classic 3 star hotel. The rooms were dated but clean and working, though there was no hand soap. The pool was big enough and clean, with lots of loungers and umbrellas, and the kids’ pool was one of the best I’ve seen. The pool bar staff came across as rude. There was only one grubby pool toilet and one shower for late checkout guests. I think water should be free for guests, especially at €2.5 a litre when the shop opposite sells it for €1. No major complaints, we had a good holiday and would probably stay again in Lloret.

The food was good and the staff were very friendly, which is why I gave it two stars. But even entering the restaurant could mean a 15-minute wait, and there was only one man serving drinks, sometimes for 200 people, so that meant another 15 minutes. The reception line could also take at least 15 minutes. I tried calling reception many times and they never answered. When I mentioned it, they said they didn’t answer if they were too busy. It’s a good thing I didn’t need a doctor while I was there. This really doesn’t feel like a 4 star hotel. The room was very old-fashioned, mostly 70’s style, with only the TV looking like it was from after 2000. There was no refrigerator, and the safe cost extra. I haven’t stayed in another 4 star in Spain without those things normally included. For this price, I’d pick a better hotel than Oasis park.

We had a lovely stay in the last week of May. The location was good, with shops and restaurants nearby, about five minutes down to the beach and around 15 minutes to busy, lively Lloret town. The beach has small stones rather than sand, but we enjoyed the watersports and jet skis. It was nice and quiet back by the hotel. The food was very good. As the hotel filled up during the week, the restaurant got busy and by the end it was hard to find a sunbed by the pool. Rooms were small and standard, but clean and cleaned daily. Entertainment was minimal but there was something most days and evenings, including a mini disco and small kids’ club. There’s also a small kids’ park. The spa was surprisingly small and costs extra to use. Overall, a lovely stay in a great location.

Lloret de Mar is beautiful, and we still had a great holiday, but there are better hotels for the price. Looking at other reviews and what we saw with French and German families and ourselves, my impression is that Spanish guests are treated wonderfully while others may not be. Room 639 was like a sauna all week because the air conditioning didn’t work. The bath jacuzzi on the balcony and the little kitchen were the only real positives. The food was good at breakfast and lunch, but dinner was terrible. There wasn’t much you could put together as a meal, mostly salad, paella and fried fish with bones. Lunch had meat with potatoes and veg, or curry with rice. Dinner felt like the hunger games, a free-for-all with no system, so we barely ate there. They didn’t provide drinks at lunch or dinner either, and the reply that it’s “not all inclusive” doesn’t change that every 4 star hotel I’ve stayed in offers juice and bottled water at minimum. Just say you want people to spend more money. The beds were rock hard and the double was two singles pushed together. We definitely booked a double, despite what replies to other reviews suggest, and the side tables were sized for that setup. Some staff were lovely, including cleaners, reception and a few table staff, but others were rude. One woman at the bar pretended not to understand English with my girlfriend, despite having spoken perfect English to me the day before. The staff were hit or miss. The pool was okay but got ridiculously packed, and one day a local kids’ football team used it and behaved like animals. On a quiet day I was told off for playing catch with my son using a mini football, while the day before local kids were diving off the pool edge to play volleyball in the packed pool without staff saying anything. They did the same to a French family, so the bias seemed obvious. We stayed for a week during half term. The hotel definitely doesn’t deserve 4 stars.

The other guests at mealtimes were our one real drawback. Some people pushed to the front even when three or four people were queuing, and others piled up plates of food they didn’t eat. It took a lot of restraint not to throw plates at the rude ones. We had a great week with our partner and our 4 and 1 year old, and would definitely return. Mid to late May was perfect, though I don’t think I’d enjoy the busiest part of summer. The staff were brilliant, smiling and taking time to greet the children. The hotel was clean and well kept, though the rooms could use an update. Wi-Fi was good, but there was no smart TV and not many English channels. The buffet food was good quality for what you’d expect, much better than say Cosmos. There’s a great choice of pools. The indoor one is heated but gets humid through the day; the outdoor pool is colder, though you get used to it quickly. There was plenty of sun around the pool and plenty of sunbeds, but it was getting busy in our last few days. The beach is close, though it’s grit rather than sand, like walking on sandpaper. There are lots of restaurants, bars, shops, convenience stores and souvenir shops nearby. I recommend Gold Star terrace bar, a few minutes’ walk from the hotel.
