Gran Hotel Flamingo – Adults Only

The rooftop, Avana, was a lovely spot to swim, relax, and have some good food. We also liked having pools downstairs and up on the roof, with bars and comfortable places to sit. The gym is open 24/7 and I had good workouts, though the air conditioning sometimes made it too cold. Our room was thoroughly prepared when we arrived and cleaned very well every day. For all eight nights, the staff treated us with kindness and respect. Everyone was friendly, approachable, and ready to help. The hotel is centrally located in a beautiful area, near lots of amenities. We had a great eight days in Lloret de Mar and will be back. Thanks to Hotel Flamingo and the staff.

The rest of the hotel's facilities were clean and well maintained. The reception team was consistently friendly, multilingual, and professional. Breakfast had a huge selection, and the pool and outdoor areas were spotless and nicely furnished. For the price, the place is generally worth considering, but we had a terrible stay in room 311. When we checked in, the toilet had what looked like feces on it. It was disgusting. Reception understood and had it cleaned straight away, gave us vouchers, and arranged rooftop access, but couldn't move us to another room. Over the rest of the week, the bathroom fixtures kept undermining our confidence: the sink tap was completely loose, the bath and shower switch fell off so we couldn't switch between them, and the shower bracket kept coming off because a screw was missing. The air conditioning was full of mold, or at least dirt, and seemed not to have been cleaned in a long time. After a day at the beach, we came back to find our door open. Housekeeping hadn't closed it properly, so anyone could have walked in for hours. Luckily, we had our valuables in the safe.

The hotel is right in the center, with nice rooms that have balconies. Staff are friendly, but it can be hard to get help when things are busy. Breakfast was good, and the later-than-usual hours were handy. There's no parking on site, so if you're driving, expect to pay for private parking, around €10-30 a day.

Housekeeping was polite and efficient, and the hotel itself looked clean and modern. Still, this was one of the least welcoming hotel stays we've had after years of traveling. The staff at reception, the restaurant, and the bar often seemed dismissive and disinterested, and sometimes were downright rude. Before we arrived, my father emailed to ask about transport to the Barcelona Grand Prix. He got a blunt “No, we have no information,” with no suggestions, even though the hotel was promoting Grand Prix weekend on social media. When we asked again at check-in, the response was just as unhelpful. Breakfast felt cold and unfriendly: no greeting, only “Room number” before they waved us through. At the bar, I stood waiting while the staff chatted with each other and ignored me. On our final morning, we noticed two restaurant tables marked “Formula 1.” It seemed the hotel did have some kind of package or service for Grand Prix guests, despite having said earlier that they knew nothing about it. The front-of-house team could use basic customer service training. The hotel has potential, but we won't return until the service improves.
