Acacias Hotel Suites Spa

The breakfast was the one bright spot. There was a welcoming chef who was happy to handle special dietary requests. The outdoor pool is in the building next door, while access to the indoor pool and sauna costs extra even after paying a high room rate. The parking situation was its own problem. We came as two families, each with a toddler and dietary restrictions. We booked two rooms after seeing photos that clearly showed kitchenettes, but when we arrived we found bare rooms with none of the basic amenities we expected. There wasn't even a bottle of water. When we asked politely, the receptionist arrogantly told us to take it or leave it. The photos online were completely unlike the actual rooms. It was a terrible experience with kids, and the price was far too high for what was provided. The only thing going for the hotel is its location. The service was very poor or nonexistent, and I'd strongly advise families to avoid it.

We had to deal with the parking rules as soon as we arrived by car. The spaces outside the hotel were limited, so my wife went in to ask where the reserved parking was while I left the car on the street. They said we had to finish check-in first. Parking is in the next building, which is awkward with lots of luggage, especially on those sloped streets. The place feels dated now, and I might have chosen a hotel like this 15 years ago, but probably not today. The atmosphere also felt unfriendly. Staff, much like elsewhere in the Catalonia region, came across as stiff and didn't make us feel welcome. I wouldn't choose to stay here again.

The hotel is only a couple of minutes from the beach, with the 'esplanade' close by for an easy evening out. It's on the second line, not right on the beachfront. My balcony had a view, and the palm tree photo I added was taken from there. I don't have hotel photos, just ones of the beach and castle. Breakfast was delicious and included in the room price, with service until 11h30. The man looking after breakfast, who looked like he came from India, greeted us each morning and asked if we'd like anything special, like an omlet. He was still offering plenty of food and eggs at 11h15. The staff were lovely and adapted to what we needed. There's private paid parking in front, dogs are accepted, and there's an outdoor pool plus a kids' pool. All rooms have balconies; some have beach views. We had a double room with a balcony, not one of the suites with a jacuzzi, and it was great. The price seemed fair for summer. I'd happily recommend the hotel.

We tried both the hotel and the apartments over a long weekend in late April, and would definitely return. The location gave us an ideal mix of convenience and quiet, with good access around the area. Breakfast was superb, with plenty of choice and really helpful servers. If you go, I hope Christian is there. He helped us a lot. Thanks!
