Hotel Villa Garbí

The food was excellent, a 10/10. The bathroom, though, wasn't very clean when we arrived, and there was hair around. Our bath had only a curtain, so water splashed onto the tiles beside it and we had to clean and dry that area after every shower.

The pool was clean and we had a good swim, and it was easy to get to the beach clubs, bars, and shops. The noise didn't bother my partner or me. Staff were lovely, and our room was clean and up to standard. The bathroom was a decent size; the balcony was small but just right for the two of us to sit on. We were nervous after reading the reviews, but enjoyed our stay at Lloret de mar hotel villa Garbí. My croissants were lovely, though my partner wasn't impressed with the other food, so we ate out most of the time. People have different expectations and experiences, so don't assume the hotel is rubbish just because of reviews. I'd recommend it to younger people who like nightlife and the pool and don't mind noise, but maybe not to families with kids. ☺️

Getting there was straightforward: two buses from barcelona airport, then a short walk from the bus station. Restaurants, bars, and shops are nearby too. We liked having the option to eat at the surrounding hotels and use their pools, especially the included ‘splashzone’ waterpark. The room worked for us as a student couple, though the place clearly caters more to teenagers and students. A German event/party/group was staying there, and music played through the day, sometimes making it loud. The air con came and went, but did its job when it was on.

The bar staff at Hotel Villa Garbi were friendly and good, but the stay overall was rough. It's a better fit for an 18 year old looking for easy access to bars, clubs, and other drunks than for anyone after a relaxing holiday. The hotel is old, with its last renovation in 2002, and the rooms felt dated and musty. The beds were uncomfortable and the balconies small. On arrival, we saw big pink signs for Ruf, a travel company for German teenagers, and the hotel was full of teenagers. Music played by the pool for much of the day. One afternoon the same song looped for about an hour while someone, possibly drunk, slurred into the microphone over the poolside speakers. A group of Italian teenagers were noisy and seemed unaware of others, though they were in their mid-teens, so you can only expect so much good behaviour. We were told to eat at the hotel next door. That was fine, but the food was uninspiring, and the restaurant staff's attitude made us wonder if it had been spat in. They slammed plates and cutlery so loudly it seemed like a competition, even the Greeks would have been impressed. We'd get in, eat as fast as possible, and leave.
