Sa Rota den Palerm

The apartment itself was nice, and we had a comfortable bed, good air conditioning, and a private terrace. The place is quiet, pretty, and picturesque, with lots of spots to sit, hardly anyone else around, and enough shaded parking. It’s central enough to explore different parts of the island and close to some nice small towns. Still, it’s very remote, and everything is about a 60-minute drive away. Getting in was a mess. The link they sent a few days beforehand didn’t work, and nobody replied when we tried to get help. We waited an hour outside because no one had sent the entry codes or access details. Other guests had the same problem. After travelling all night and day, that made the start of the trip stressful. Before arrival, it was very hard to reach anyone at all. We booked through Hyatt, but they couldn’t help, and the hotel numbers we were given didn’t work. Staff seemed not to care. They also couldn’t find our payment and kept asking for more confirmation, even after we sent proof. There are clearly property management problems. On day two, we woke to find there was no running water during a heatwave. We sent them a WhatsApp message and were told they’d check. We didn’t get an apology, extra bottled water, or anything else. The water was working again when we returned that day, and they had people dealing with it, but some better customer service would have helped. The stay was expensive, and for that price there wasn’t much provided or anyone to contact when things went wrong. Our apartment, number 3, also needed attention. Things kept breaking: the curtain rail came right down because there were no stoppers at the ends, and cabinet knobs were coming loose. It really needs some TLC. There were swarms of flies and wasps by the pool and all around the property. They landed on us and buzzed around our faces while we tried to lie out, so relaxing was hard. Bugs kept covering the pool again almost as soon as we cleared it with the net. On our last day, we also found ants all over the kitchen and right outside the apartment. Very sad.

It was peaceful and very quiet, and we had the pool mostly to ourselves. Just watch out for wasps around the pool: one stung my wife. There’s a net to clear the water before you get in. We’ll be back.

The views were amazing, the pool was refreshing, and the apartments had everything we needed for a great stay with our 10-month-old. Sa Rota is also a handy base for seeing Majorca. Highly recommend!

I’ve never arrived somewhere and felt my stress lift so quickly. It’s a stunning, chilled-out place, with lovely rooms designed with real care and great views that made for a very comfortable stay. The staff were just as lovely. We’re definitely going again next year. A real gem, 10/10.
