Hotel Jardines de Amaltea

The air conditioning didn’t work, and the room was probably the hottest I’ve ever stayed in. It’s a lovely hotel otherwise. Breakfast was nice, and it’s near an industrial area.

The room’s AC worked as it should, the sheets were clean and white, and the bathroom was nice. For one night on the road, those things were fine, but this didn’t feel like a hotel worthy of its star rating. I paid 74 euro for one person with breakfast, which felt a bit steep for what was offered. There was no yoghurt, only melon for fruit, and a bunch of donuts, despite the hotel calling itself a sport hotel. I’d also read a review from two years earlier mentioning the lack of yoghurt, and had assumed that might have changed. There’s no power socket by the bed for charging your phone, either.

The bedding was good and breakfast decent, and the hotel was clean enough for an overnight stay. It’s in the town centre, near a big shopping centre, petrol pump and pharmacy. The cigarette smell in our room was intense, so a smoke-free room may not be an option. The swimming pool was closed and dry when we were there, so check whether it’s open if swimming matters to you. It’s an old hotel.

The rooms were spacious, but they lacked the extra touches I’d expect from a 4 star hotel, and the hairdryer looked like one installed in the 80’s. At €84, I didn’t think it was worth the price. It’s about a 30 minute walk into town, and we waited 30 minutes at reception to check in while one receptionist handled the other guests.
