It’s a rather depressing place. You can hear every door shutting in the hallway, and the heating in my room didn’t work. When I mentioned it at reception, the man didn’t seem surprised. He said there was nothing he could do and offered an extra blanket.

I’d happily stay here again. The rates are unbeatable, the reception lady was very nice, and the restaurant and bar are excellent for breakfast. My room was very clean, and the shower had strong, hot water. I also liked the little balcony overlooking the main street, which wasn’t especially noisy. I don’t understand the bad reviews. It’s a perfectly fine, simple, old-fashioned small-town hotel that doesn’t pretend to be more than it is.

The rooms were clean, but this hotel is way overpriced. Ours was worn out and the taps wouldn’t shut off. There was a racket all night from loud guests talking and doors slamming. Also, the smoke alarm was covered with a plastic bag, presumably because people smoke in the rooms or on the mini balcony.

My budget room was perfect, and it even had a balcony! The staff were friendly and really helpful to cyclists. The WiFi could be better, though. Thanks, Hotel Real!

Hotel Real is clean and comfortable, and good value for the quality. It’s a practical, basic, clean place in Los Barrios, a lovely small city close to lots of places. The cafeteria does a good Spanish breakfast, and the coffee is really good.
