The room was spacious and clean, and housekeeping was thorough. The location is great, with a nice beach nearby and free parking a three-minute walk away. Good restaurants are a short walk or a 15-minute drive. The restaurants near the hotel were rebuilding after the volcanic eruption, so give them some credit. Breakfast was four stars: decent food and choice, a great chef, and coffee that was super crappy. The rest of the restaurant staff were only so-so and always ignored us. Check-in service was nice. There are plenty of downsides in the room: no extra plugs, a bizarrely designed bathroom, especially the shower, a kitchen without even basic equipment, and very uncomfortable beds. If you just need somewhere to sleep and a base for exploring the island, go for it. If you want something more elegant, try Level available at the hotel, look it up on Google.
We had a nice week here, and I'd definitely recommend it and come back. The staff were friendly and competent, the cleaning service was great, and fresh towels were provided. We had breakfast included, with a decent selection and a freshly made omelette station. The gym is modest, but more than decent if you want a bit of room to work out. We stayed in a small apartment with a living room and kitchenette, a bedroom, and a nice balcony overlooking the ocean. It was clean and in good condition. The kitchenette could use a few more things, like an electric kettle and proper coffee mugs, since the coffee cups were too small for me. The hotel itself is lovely, with two pools. We used the one by the ocean, which has a beautiful view, especially at sunset, plus a small bar and nice, relaxed music. For the first few days our key cards kept needing to be validated at reception, which got frustrating, but they eventually fixed the issue and gave us a small gift and a nice letter. Much appreciated. I don't understand the previous review. It was completely undeserved.
The view is pretty good, though most rooms don't have one. The rooms are three-star, so nothing fancy, and daily cleaning is a nice plus. You can hear music from the hotel bar all over the complex, and the walls are very thin. Bring earplugs.
The staff were friendly and helpful, and the place was clean and quiet, though you can tell only part of the complex has been renovated. Breakfast had plenty to choose from, and there was something for everyone at the Mosaik restaurant. La Palma's natural beauty is stunning. Puerto Naos itself has no charm or much else to offer, apart from beautiful sunsets that are especially good for photographers. As an apartment guest, I felt treated like a second-class guest. The gym and hotel pool are for hotel guests only, and the room doesn't include a hairdryer or hotel information. We only got a hairdryer after asking reception. Parking is €11 a day, and the safe costs €3 a day. Both charges are unacceptable. The beds are two single beds pushed together, and they can't be adjusted into a double. Separate beds may suit some couples, but they don't suit us. I travel a lot and have a good idea of what counts as value for money. I can only say: never again at this accommodation option. I'd gladly return to La Palma, just not here. Maybe it was seasonal, but the clientele was elderly. And, as often happens with many Germans, they once again proved themselves masters of rudeness. In 10 encounters, only one person gave what you could call a smile, bared lips and a minimal greeting.
Only the breakfast met the Meliá chain's standards. The apartments were barely better than basic hostel rooms, and the staff were unhelpful. They insisted on a printed copy of our hotel voucher, and since the daily parking was full, we had to leave our car outside the hotel on a side road. Parking costs €11 a day, too. I'm a member of the Meliá Holiday Club, but the receptionist showed less interest than if I were a member of the corner bar. We were told there'd be complimentary water in the room, but there wasn't, and the coffee machine outside the rooms was broken. There's plenty of room for improvement.
