Residencial Los Silos

There are several hikes that begin right in Los Silos, so Hotel Luz del Mar worked really well for us as nature lovers. We rented a car, and driving was fun, if occasionally tricky. Google Maps kept trying to route us down very narrow streets, so it’s worth checking the route and changing it when needed. We felt at home as soon as we arrived. The staff were especially friendly and helpful. On our late check-in day the restaurant had already closed, but the waiters still offered us something to eat, which was such a kind gesture. We had a beautiful, relaxing holiday and will look back on it fondly. Thanks so much!

This place is professionally run and set in a quiet part of the island. German, English, and Spanish are spoken, and it’s a great base for hikers with a good range of activities. Vegan guests are catered for as well.

Tuesday tapas night was a treat. Every dish was freshly made in-house, and the portions together made up a full meal. The tuna ceviche was the best I’ve ever had. We only got to discover the hotel by going to the restaurant for a meal, but everything impressed us: clean, simple, modern rooms, a wonderfully shaped pool lit beautifully in the evening, and an outstanding mountain view. The service, value for money, and refined food were superb. The dishes had gourmet-level preparation and presentation.

The price felt far too high for what the hotel offers. The rooms were humid and stuffy, with awful pillows and duvets, and friends staying a couple of rooms away found a cockroach in theirs. Breakfast was basic and the quality wasn’t very good.
