Our apartment had a lovely garden to step out into and was furnished with real style. The owners, Nuria and Michael, were a delight, knew the area inside out, and had plenty of helpful suggestions. We could drive to the nearest bay, Cadavedo, in five minutes, or walk there in about 40 minutes through the woods and village. There's plenty of peace and quiet here, though the authentic village bars offer more bustle when you want it. We spent our holiday enjoying the lush green scenery and the gentle pace of tourism, with mostly Spanish visitors around. Valdes is great for hiking, and we loved discovering its picturesque fishing villages and bigger towns like Aviles. The bays and cliffs were stunning and, even on Sundays, not crowded. Seafood and fish lovers will be very happy, and we also enjoyed trying fabada, the bean stew. Highly recommended!
