Thomas and Rosa are the heart of the place. They're kind, engaging, committed, helpful, and multilingual. The house was lovingly restored by the owners, and the grounds are gorgeous. Even the cats are delightful and well behaved! Our room was clean, inviting, comfortable, and warm, and breakfast was fantastic. Maceda is a nice little town in a gorgeous region. I almost never write reviews, and this is the first one I've ever volunteered to write. It's THAT good! If I'm lucky enough to return to Galicia, this is where I'll stay. A real gem.

The owners are wonderful hosts, and Rosa was kind enough to let me interview her about the Pazo for a video to use in my Spanish class. I'm a Spanish high school teacher in California, USA. They've made a beautiful country home while keeping many historical features of the property and updating some amenities, so our stay was very comfortable. What a beautiful place! If you're in Galicia near Orense, El Pazo of Chaioso is a must-visit place to stay overnight. Muchas gracias!

The hosts were warm, kind, attentive, and always ready to help make our stay special. We found a beautifully renovated house, carefully looked after and welcoming, with everything spotless and arranged to make you feel at home right away. A wonderful stay from beginning to end. Rosa and Thomas share plenty of information about routes, visits, wineries, restaurants, and more, and they're absolutely delightful. Their delicious breakfast was another highlight. This unique place is an excellent base at either end of a trip around the Ribeira Sacra region of Ourense. They deserve immense credit for restoring this Pazo from ruins. They've made it welcoming, beautiful, and comfortable while preserving the character of the building and its surroundings. 100% recommended.
