AYZ Villegas - Auto check-in property

The room itself was in great shape: clean, fresh, with a comfortable bed that may have had a memory foam topper. The bathroom and shower were spotless, so I had no complaints about the facilities. Getting inside was easy once the electronic access was set up, but setting it up was a real headache. The check-in and identity app struggled with my birth date and wouldn't accept the correct passport expiry date, though it finally worked when I entered the current date. I did this well ahead of time and still found it painful. Noise also carried from one part of the building to another. If apps that are buggy or unhelpful wear your patience thin, think twice.

The room was an okay size, though it didn't feel much like a hotel. It was cheap and about a five minute walk from the metro, and the staff we happened to meet on the way in were nice. Opening the doors with the app was convenient when it worked. The walls are very thin, so you can hear the neighbors. Once the main door lock failed and we had to call customer service; it took 15 minutes before someone else let us in, although the system worked otherwise. Registering with all the required documents was a bit of a hassle, and cleaning, extra towels, early check-in and late checkout all cost extra.

We booked a room with its own bathroom and found it clean, quiet, and simple to get into. The entry instructions were clear, and using our phones meant we didn't need extra keys. Public transit was nearby, including a direct route to the airport. It worked perfectly for us, and we'll be back in September for a quick two-day stay in Madrid.

The room was clean and decent, and the location worked well for getting to the airport. But Madrid was 34°C and there was no way to adjust the air conditioning, so the night was sweaty and uncomfortable. There isn't any parking, which I understand in Madrid. Check-in is self-service online through a tedious, cumbersome app that's hardly user-friendly. Fine for one night, but don't expect much comfort. I wouldn't recommend it.
