The new receptionist, Elvis, was friendly and nice. My experience with the other two staff members was very different: Sandra at reception ignored us and left me waiting for an hour without even looking at me. Alex in the breakfast area was angry and mean, and kicked my family and me out.

We waited outside in the cold for almost an hour before it was our turn to enter the breakfast café, which also felt short on space. The café staff spoke to us rudely, and the other staff were unfriendly too. When we first arrived, we were ignored and it took an hour to get checked in. Our room had no slippers, an uncomfortable bed, and an unclean bathroom. Worst stay I’ve ever had. I’d never recommend it.

The rooms were clean and breakfast was good. It’s near a metro station, cafés, and restaurants, and a pleasant walk to Santiago Bernabeu takes about 25 minutes.

The hotel is a long way from the city centre and most sights, which made sightseeing inconvenient. The rooms also let in a lot of noise from neighbours and the elevator, and outdoor light came through at night. On arrival, we were charged an unexpected extra 10% because I’d accidentally booked for one person instead of two, but the room and towel count stayed the same. For over €160 a night, plus that extra fee, it just wasn’t worth it.
