Hostal El Príncipe

It's tucked into a cute little square. We came just to eat because my dad had heard the lamb was great, and it was. We were all happy with our dishes. Keep in mind that both the lamb and paella are portions for two, so ordering both means you'll need four people.

We landed at Madrid airport late last night, and this cafe was just a two minute walk from our hotel. Coffee and tostada made a delicious start to the morning. We sat outside, though the birds were allowed to feed from the tables. They're very used to people and being fed, and boldly come right up to the tables, which wasn't great.

The interior is rustic but classy, and the owner and service were very friendly. I especially liked the starters and the roasted pickling I ordered. A great restaurant for classic Spanish food. You'll need to book.

During an overnight stay, I found this restaurant within walking distance of my hotel. They clearly know their way around meat dishes, and I saw some huge platters coming out of the kitchen. My baby lamb cutlets with mixed salad were wonderful, and left me truly satisfied.
