Los Coronales

I had one night at Hostal Los Coronales between domestic and international flights, and it suited that stopover well: simple, inexpensive and cheerful. The airport shuttle was free and efficient. I just called when I arrived and was picked up quickly, and it was punctual the next morning. Check-in was easy, and the hostel is close to the airport. The room was basic and could use an upgrade. Noise came through the walls all night, from people checking in, walking around and talking, so getting proper rest was difficult. If you don't have a SIM card, you need to call to arrange pickup. A WhatsApp or online chat option would make that easier for international guests. For a quick overnight stay, it does the job.

We spent two nights at Los Coronales. The rooms are quite old, but everything was so clean that I was amazed. HK does an amazing job there! The free airport shuttle was a big help too. Our luggage was delayed, so the next day they drove us to the airport to collect it and brought us back. Really helpful!

After a night like that, we won't stay here again. We were there for just one night, and things were only normal at best after the mess with the shuttle. We stood freezing on the street for over an hour, with no update or explanation, waiting for a van that never arrived. When I called a second time, they hung up abruptly. Once I got through to explain we'd already been waiting an hour, the driver's reply was shockingly rude and disrespectful. The receptionist was hostile too, and acted like a bully. Honestly, if my wife hadn't been with me, I don't know how much worse it might have got. I never want to put ourselves through the madness of staying here again.

The shuttle mix-up on the morning of our flight left a really bad impression. We booked a 7 a.m. airport transfer at check-in, and came ready five minutes before the agreed time. Then staff told us there was no slot for us and the van was full. We clearly remember requesting the shuttle because the receptionist asked which terminal we needed and confirmed it. They offered no solution, didn't even apologize, and haven't answered the questions we sent them. It was awful, especially with a long flight home to catch, and put a sour note on our trip.
