Madrid Airport Suites, Affiliated by Meliá

The food was a real bright spot during my stay at the end of January after I missed a flight at Madrid airport. Supper was a great buffet with soup, meat, and salad, and the breakfast buffet was amazing 🤩. There was fruit, yogurt, all kinds of bread and rolls, charcuterie, eggs, bacon, pastries, plus unlimited hot and cold drinks. The suite was spacious and clean too. The rooms were cold, though, and I couldn't find a way to adjust the temperature. And don't count on the airport shuttle. I waited two hours for a pickup, and every time I called, they said it'd be at the airport in half an hour. In the end I took an Uber for just under 15 euros and got there in 20 minutes. For the trip back, they offered 7.15am or 11am, neither worked for my noon flight. I took another Uber for just under 15 euros and could choose when to leave. Management, please don't mention a shuttle if you aren't prepared to run it properly!

I spent one night here after an iberia flight cancelation. The dinner and breakfast were excellent, both the food selection and quality and the staff. My room was a little dingy, but clean and quiet. The airport pickup shuttle could take hours, so I'd recommend a taxi to the hotel. The ride back to the airport was punctual and very efficient. The neighborhood seemed a bit sketchy, though nobody hangs around there anyway. All in all, a good place.

I missed my connection and Iberia put me up here for one night. It turned out to be a nice surprise. The hotel was clean and comfortable, the shower was good, and I slept really well. The staff were kind, and I had a good time despite the circumstances. The free buffet dinner was pretty average, but I guess it does the job. Everyone seemed to be in the same boat, having missed flights and such. The transfer driver was kind too.

The only good part was leaving. After AirEuropa delayed our flights by 14 hours, we were dropped at this disaster of a hotel. The room was filthy, with cockroaches crawling around like they owned the place. The sheets looked unwashed, the bathroom was a biohazard, and the smell of neglect hit me as soon as I walked in. I felt completely unsafe. Strangers wandered the halls without supervision, and someone actually tried to break into my room and steal my Patek. The doors seem like they could be kicked open with a sneeze. When I told the staff, they didn't seem to care. Refugees everywhere, I felt right at home, just like London! Between the bugs, the grime, and the lack of protection for guests, this place should be shut down. Save yourself the trauma and stay anywhere else. Even a clean park bench would feel more comfortable and secure.
