We couldn’t get in touch with them from the start. They never picked up calls or replied on WhatsApp. The apartment was dirty, so I couldn’t bring myself to sit in the living room, as the photos show. The downstairs apartment door was always open, which made us feel unsafe, and we could hear everything from the other floors. The blinds didn’t work. I sent videos and was told nobody was available to fix them, so I had to wake up at sunrise. I’ll also be filing a formal complaint with Expedia.

The location made getting around easy, with shops and public transport close by and the city centre just 10 minutes away by bus. I stayed with a family of 10 at Smartr Madrid Las Ventas. We had three rooms on floors 1, 4, and 6, each with a stunning sit-out and amazing views of Madrid City. The rooms felt plush, comfortable, and equipped with modern technology. The washing machine, dishwasher, coffee maker, and oven were all useful. Everything was self-service, but staff responded quickly. A few problems we encountered were never addressed. Even so, we had a great experience and I’d recommend the place.

I strongly recommend against staying at any hotel where entry is fully remote and there’s no reception on site.

The service was terrible, and we left early because we were uncomfortable and nothing was resolved. The building looked run-down from the moment we entered. Our apartment smelled strongly of tobacco; after we reported it, nobody replied or offered another option. The heating didn’t work either, and they didn’t fix it after we let them know. There were three of us in a place meant for four, but once we opened the sofa bed there was hardly room to move. Everything felt neglected, and we weren’t given a refund.
