Hotel Plaza del Castillo

The staff were wonderful, and their service deserves five stars. The reason I’m giving the hotel two is everything else. It’s in an industrial area, the gym layout is very poor, and getting there without a car seems impossible. The website claims also weren’t always accurate or fully explained. Laundry costs 20 euros for a small bag and takes two days. The gym closes at a certain time, but that isn’t mentioned online. The rooms are said to be soundproof, yet I could hear my neighbour using the toilet. The rooms were mostly clean, but there were obvious areas that didn’t seem to get cleaned at all. The blinds looked almost moldy, and there were shoe prints and dead bugs all over the walls. We booked two rooms at the same price level, but the beds, showers and amenities were completely different between them. There was no lock on the bathroom window, so someone could open it and watch you shower. The bathroom doors were missing locks too, with holes under the handles where someone in the room could easily peep while you were on the toilet. The fridge barely worked, and its door wouldn’t stay shut unless slammed. I can’t overlook these problems. The only reason this gets two stars instead of one is that the service was perfect. I wouldn’t book here again.

The interior was very pretty, and the garden had a nice theme. My room was okay, but could have been cleaner. Breakfast was overly basic.

The hotel was very clean, breakfast was excellent, and the staff were extremely polite and helpful. They kindly helped us find a rental car at a reasonable price, which worked out really well. It was quite far from the city, but there was a bus stop nearby, even though getting around that way took time. We were very satisfied with our stay and enjoyed our time at the hotel.

The garden seating in the sun was a lovely extra, and there was even a beautiful little cat out there. We stayed seven nights and appreciated the fresh tea and bottled water each day, along with the bed being made and clean linen, even if daily linen changes weren't really needed. The whole place had a nice feel to it, and the staff were wonderful, especially at reception. Breakfast from the buffet on our first day was below standard, but the four meals we had in the bar and restaurant were excellent. It was easy to get to central Malaga, and it was nice to return to a hotel a little outside town.
