The villa was in fantastic shape, with a clean room for everyone, air conditioning throughout, a well stocked kitchen and a good sized pool with sun beds. The master suite was especially lovely. Olivier and a friend even came over one evening to cook and show us a few things. Their paella was the best I’ve had by far, much better than what we found in restaurants, and I’d happily return. Getting there takes some effort. It’s very remote, around 30 minutes from the main road, with nothing close enough to walk to and no public transport nearby. The final stretch is a mountain track, so I’d suggest hiring a capable car. We used a Nissan Quashqai and felt safe enough. The drive itself is exciting and the views are spectacular. There’s plenty to do within about a 1.5 hour drive, too. We were a group of eight, and the host greeted us warmly when we arrived. He offered to meet us on the main road and guide us in.

Olivier was warm and enthusiastic, and we had a really good dinner that evening. The house has been renovated beautifully, and the mountains around it make for lovely scenery. One useful tip: follow the directions you’re given instead of Google Maps, and finding the place is easy. A real gem.

The cooking setup was very well equipped, which we appreciated. We had a great time here, and the views make the bumpy road worthwhile. It seems like a lovely place in any season. The main drawback for our group was having no toilet on the ground floor. There were quite a few of us, and we did a lot of dancing, so that made things a little awkward.

The house is lovely, the owner is friendly, and the view is spectacular. Just be prepared for how isolated it is. The last 7 kilometers took us more than 20 minutes, and routes need planning before you set off. Google may take you onto some very dangerous mountain dirt roads where a car only just fits. If being remote is what you want, this place could suit you.
