Luna Park Hotel Yoga & Spa

We had a really nice stay and have even considered booking again, which says a lot since we're picky. The place is quiet and peaceful, so it may not suit anyone looking for a party hotel. The staff were great with us, and we didn't experience any rudeness or hostility. Hamza at the bar had us laughing on the first night and helped us feel at ease. When we arrived very late, two friendly women made us feel welcome right away. We stayed on the 3 star side after reading the reviews and wondering about the difference between the 3 and 4 star rooms. Our room was basic but clean, functional, and had a nice Spanish feel. It was perfectly fine for what we needed. The spa costs 15 euros per session, but we thought the jacuzzi and sauna were top tier. Breakfast was lovely too, though it won't be what you expect if you're after a full English. There's a pub called the drunken duck about a 5 minute walk away that serves a traditional fry-up and is English-run. Some reviews might put you off, but our stay was lush. You get what you pay for, and I can't really fault the hotel or staff.

The room cleaner was lovely. I asked for an iron and slippers, and she brought everything I needed and even left me a note. She was the bright spot in this experience. My holiday is still underway, but the breakfast incident has left a bad taste. I was full and wanted to take a croissant back to my room to eat later. A long-haired woman with a ponytail at breakfast, who spoke no English, refused. I even asked her in Spanish and explained why, but she still said no. People can take coffee or an apple to their rooms, so I don't understand why a croissant isn't allowed. I gave four stars only because of this breakfast lady. Otherwise, it would have been five.

We stayed just one night. The hotel was clean and quiet, and we were pleased to get a complimentary room upgrade. I felt uneasy when check-in staff asked to keep my credit card details on file in case of damage. I understand wanting a guarantee, but I hadn't come across this before and would have liked a clearer explanation of how the information would be handled. We also had to leave before the breakfast buffet opened. I asked whether we could get a packed breakfast, but the request was turned down. Since breakfast was included in the room rate and I'd paid for it, that was disappointing. I left with mixed feelings.

We chose this hotel near the border for a short weekend away with friends, and it was one of the worst stays I've had. Booking directly through the hotel's website left us confused about whether we'd booked a 3 or 4 star hotel. When we went to bed, we found dirty sheets with many marks. We politely asked for clean sheets and towels. A woman kindly brought towels, but when we came back from our evening out, the sheets still hadn't been changed. At reception we explained again that clean sheets were the bare minimum for what we'd paid. The “manager” told us they change sheets every 3 days, whether or not someone had stayed in the room before us. We asked to move because our room was dirty, but were told the hotel was full, even though Booking still showed rooms available that night. After we insisted, a man took pity on us and quietly said he'd bring sheets for us to change ourselves. I had lots of pimples on my arms after that night. I don't know what caused them, since I'm not allergic to anything, but given the state of the sheets, I wouldn't be surprised if they were related. I have photos to back up what I'm saying. The bed had a wooden board instead of slats. I won't even get into the mattress. There are much better and cheaper hotels nearby, and Lloret de Mar is better too. Customer service was poor, and the receptionists treated us as if we were nothing and they could do whatever they wanted. That kind of attitude doesn't fit a hotel that should care about cleanliness and respect for guests.
