Hotel Reymar Playa

The sea is just across the road, and there are loads of shops and restaurants nearby, which is one reason we love this place. We come back every autumn because it feels like home. The staff are welcoming, the rooms are clean, and the food is really tasty. There’s great entertainment every evening too. Highly recommend it.

We only stopped for one night, but the room was perfect and parking was free in the off season. When I wanted to start drinking at 5pm, all the nearby bars were closed. Maybe they opened later.

We had a private balcony on the fourth floor, and the views were lovely. The hotel ran like clockwork and was faultless. Our full board included three self-service buffet meals, with an extensive selection and no restrictions. The room was basic but comfortable enough. Renting a fridge was an obvious choice for us. There was evening entertainment by the pool from 7 to 10, with a DJ or singer. The internet was poor and limited to WiFi in the bar.

The location was a strong point, near the beach and surrounded by restaurants and souvenir shops. For shoppers, prices are cheaper in the morning and daytime than in the evening. The pool was fine, and there was entertainment by it every night, which we really enjoyed. We had two rooms on the seventh floor. They looked clean and possibly recently renovated, and the bathrooms were fine. The lifts were awful, though. Sometimes the doors wouldn’t even open on our floor. There were lots of students staying there, with noise at night and some knocking on room doors for fun. The food was okay, but I expected more, especially given Spain’s reputation for cuisine. In our seven days, there were no scrambled eggs at breakfast. Twice they served fried eggs, but otherwise it was always hard-boiled eggs, which disappointed me. Lunch and dinner were average, the meat and fish were often overcooked, and I expected more seafood. Most staff were helpful, but a few weren’t. It’s a three-star hotel, and that’s about what it deserves. The pool had no umbrellas over the sunbeds, which was a letdown. I wouldn’t come back, given how many options there are in the world, but that doesn’t mean we had a bad stay.
